Can you imagine if I confessed that I used to be a shy person? Those who know me now would probably find it hard to believe, as I'm anything but shy. Yet, there was a time when I hesitated to admit that I owned a business. I vividly remember the moment I completed my paperwork with the state (yes, I'm officially a taxpayer now) to legitimize my venture. I had transformed my passion from what some considered a mere "hobby" into a full-fledged career, proudly labeling it as a woman-owned business.
Let's rewind even further. From as far back as I can remember, my greatest hope and wish were to have the opportunity to stay at home and raise my kids. I wasn't under the illusion that it meant lounging around the house and indulging in endless meals. It was about actively participating in the upbringing of my children, contributing to the bigger picture that would shape their futures. Growing up, my single mother raised four kids on her own, and while I admired her strength, I knew that wasn't the path I envisioned for myself. Let me be clear—I hold immense respect and admiration for single parents, regardless of the circumstances.
Life and fate led me to this particular journey, and when the opportunity presented itself, I seized it. Initially, I was the mom with the camera at my kid's games, opting for a "fancy" camera instead of a smartphone. I found joy and connection through the lens, proud to be a mother and support my son in his beloved sport.
However, I sensed there was more to explore in the realm of photography. I dedicated time and effort to self-teach, and along the way, competition became a natural part of my journey. Oddly enough, my initial goal was simply to capture better pictures of my son's sports moments. Little did I realize that my passion would lead to requests from friends and family for family photos. I always started with a disclaimer, saying, 'You know I have no idea what I'm doing, right?' To my surprise, they responded with confidence, 'If it's anything like what you showcase on social media, you'll do great!'
In embracing my journey from shy business owner to a proud woman behind all that I've created. I've learned that our passions have the power to transform not only ourselves but also those around us. From capturing my son's sports moments to receiving heartfelt notes from fellow businesswomen who experienced a transformative shift while participating in one of my events or initiatives, I've discovered the strength that comes from pursuing what sets your soul on fire.
